Sweet sunshine! It’s here and oh my, it is glorious!
There is nothing we love more when the weather perks up than to grab our checkered blanket, wicker basket and head to the park with friends and family for a tasty picnic lunch.
And we’re not the only ones – the beloved British poet Keats probably summed up the al fresco dining experience best when he said:
"Give me books, French wine, fruit, fine weather and a little music out of doors.”
So between the novel reading, vino drinking (or juice drinking for the kids) and those warm-weather tunes, you’ll need to satiate your guests with some tasty morsels in the sunshine.
And nothing says al fresco dining quite like a hearty sandwich to feed the masses. For a tasty twist on the traditional Plougman’s Loaf, try this tasty Pancetta and Pepper Picnic Loaf
. This can be made ahead of time and kept in a cooler until you’re ready to eat.
For some inexpensive and easy sides, light but satisfying salads are a simple crowd pleaser. For a healthy dish, try a tasty New Potato Salad with Broad Beans
Last but not least, finish off with the fruits of summer by serving up a tasty Summer Berry Tart
, which has the added healthy bonus of being gluten-free.
