Get ready, it's a raspberry but not as you know it! The Mac Black, the new black raspberry, is part of Tesco's Just Discovered range and is not to be confused with a blackberry; the Mac Black raspberry is a separate species of the red raspberry.
Where it all began
Sweet and tasty
The Mac Black raspberry is grown in Berkshire by farmer Harry Hall, owner of Hall Hunter Partnership, who has been supplying Tesco with delicious soft fruit for almost 20 years. However, this is the first year that the Mac Black raspberry will be available nationwide, and exclusively to Tesco.
The black hybrid variety of raspberry has a more intense flavour because it is not as intensively grown and the smaller yield means that more energy from the plant goes into the fruit. Not only delicious, the Mac Black raspberry is also high in antioxidants, making it super healthy too.
"It's really exciting that the Mac Black raspberry is available nationwide. Now everyone has a chance to try the deep, rich intense flavour of the unique berry for themselves. It tastes just like raspberry jam," says Harry.
The Mac Black raspberry will be available at selected Tesco stores nationwide from now until to Mid July so grab this new and mouth-watering raspberry while you still can.
