I like to make this pasties for packed lunches or picnic.
Heat the oil in a frying pan. Fry onion and beef till it changed colour. Add in potato, herbs, salt and pepper and ½ cup water. Bring to the boil. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Leave to cool.
Roll out the pastry. Cut into 4 X 12cm diameter rounds. Divided the filling onto the 4 rounds of pastry. Brush the edges with water. Fold over and seal the edges firmly.
Place the pasties on a greased baking tin. Put some holes on top of the pasties to allow the steam to escape. Brush the pasties with beaten egg.
Bake in the oven 190C/375F /Gas 5 for 20 minutes.
