Wash and grate the potatoes, garlic and onion. Put the mix into a bowl and squeeze out the excess liquid. Add the egg, a good couple of pinches of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix the ingredients well. Heat oil in a frying pan, add spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the pan and flatten into patties (depends how thick you like it). Flip over once browned and crispy - about 2-3 minutes each side.

I serve it with gulasz or leczo (see my other recipes) or just with garlic butter. You can add grated carrots, or pumpkin and serve with cream and sugar (but then do not add garlic!)
