Bread sauce*
Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 1 clove garlic, crushed and chopped
- 50g (2oz) butter
- 600ml (1pt) milk
- 2 bay leaves
- 200g (7oz) white breadcrumbs
- pinch ground cloves
- white pepper
Each serving contains 155 calories, 3.5g sugar, 7g fat, 4g saturates and 0.5g salt.
Method
Place finely chopped onion, garlic, butter, milk and bay leaves in a pan and very gently bring almost to the boil. Leave to cool. Add breadcrumbs, cloves and seasoning and mix well.
Leave in the fridge overnight and carefully heat through when required.
