How to make a lump-free gravy

Video guide to making Novelli lump-free gravy

Julia:    Hello Jean- Christophe, my name is Julia
JC:    Hello Julia, how are you?
Julia:    My gravy always goes lumpy. How can I produce lump-free gravy?
JC:    I like the way she says ‘help me.’ Ah that’s fantastic. I think what is very important is before you do anything always make sure the pan remain warm. Then try to use a sieve, like so, and what you do is simple. You can acknowledge that the flour which has been going through the sieve is already absorbed by the residue
Julia:    How clever!
JC:    It is. Now I’m going to give you a spot tip to make your gravy more exciting. Add a little bit of cocoa powder in there. The smell of this is absolutely superb. If you want to come closer to me, I will let you to have a try. Shall I let you try this, are you ready?
Julia:    Mmm, oh that’s wonderful.
JC:    What do you think?
Julia:    I like it very much. I like the smell and it gives the sauce a lovely flavour too.
JC:    Are you happy with that?
Julia:    I am, yes.
JC:    Fantastic.
