It's the weekend (hurray!) and with the weather set to be scorching the garden is the place to be. If there's one thing we Brits do well it's getting outside and firing up the barbecue. It also just happens to be National BBQ Week... so, gather together friends, family and hangers on and make the most of the sunshine - it might not last long!
Start off with some Explosive Thai Prawns, they're easy to eat on skewers and you can hand them out whilst people mill around chatting. Plus, they're a synch to make so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about the food.
Another way to take the pressure of hosting is to put some ice in a bucket and pop in a couple of jugs of Mojitos or Bay Breeze cocktails so people can help themselves. Write their names and ingredients on a little blackboard and prop it against the bucket for a cool, festival vibe.
If memories of a few sorry looking sausages and cremated burgers are in your barbecue memories, don't be put off. Try something a bit different like Cumin Burgers for a delicious Greek inspired twist on the traditional classic. Just don't let the person tending to the heat take their eyes off them! Go global with your menu and hit Asia for Grilled Veggie Skewers or head to Mexico with Chicken and Avocado BBQ Quesadillas.
Finally put a big bowl of Potato Salad with Lemon in the centre of the table and let everyone help themselves whilst you bask in the sun and enjoy some wonderful company.
Round off a lovely lunch with Barbecued Peaches for the adults and Knickerbocker Glories for the kids. Why not set up a table with ice cream and toppings and let the children build their own to make it a bit more fun? You can worry about the clean up later...
