This Monday in China, houses will be swept clean to ensure good luck for the coming year, bunting and lanterns will be strung up around the home, and children will receive money in red paper envelopes as a new year gift. It is of course, Chinese New Year!
You can celebrate the year of the dragon a little closer to home and throw a Chinese New Year party or just enjoy some Chinese inspired recipes.
Make up a few dishes that everyone can help themselves to, as you all sit round the table to a meal that celebrates being together as a family, just as they do in China. Prawn Toasts are a firm favourite from the local takeaway and taste even better when they’re homemade.
Chilli and Ginger Pork Stir-fry is a great main course and is quick and easy to make for a larger group of people. Serve it alongside Asian Greens for a tasty Chinese inspired supper.
You could even get some Chinese beer in for the evening to help make your night even more authentic. Happy (Chinese) New Year!
