With the kids off school and grown-ups enjoying two bank holidays, Easter is the perfect weekend for quality family time – and what is that, if not an excuse for fantastic food? This year, I’m keen to find a baking project that will get my creative brain in gear and impress my family too.
If you’ve got children at home, this is a good opportunity to get them helping in the kitchen. Use a rabbit-shaped cookie cutter for these Easter bunny biscuits, then let the kids have fun decorating them. The recipe suggests desiccated coconut, but you can encourage them to get artistic with anything from coloured icings to silver balls or sprinkles.
A chocolate Easter nest cake is sure to be popular with anyone who has a sweet tooth, but if you’re looking for something savoury and seasonal, I challenge you not to find these Easter bunny bread rolls adorable. The only question is – how could you possibly eat them?
If you have guests popping by over the weekend, whip up a Simnel cake or hot cross buns – they’re traditionally enjoyed at Easter, and perfect paired with a pot of tea on a lazy afternoon.
