January is traditionally a month when chocolate is banished from the cupboards and trainers are dusted off as we frantically try and lose a little of our Christmas celebration weight. Gym memberships are up by 25% in the first month of the year and parks are full of well-intentioned New Year's exercisers.
Okay, so we probably did indulge a little too much during the holidays but who can resist all that delicious food?
If you have decided to be healthier this year (or even just for January), you don't have to go overboard. Include lots of fruit, vegetables and fish and you'll be well on your way.
For those that would prefer a lighter meal, Hot Smoked Salmon, Potato and Watercress Salad is both delicious and nutritious. Salmon is rich in Omega 3 and watercress is packed full of vitamins and minerals. Sea Bass En Papillote is another tasty fish recipe that looks beautiful and is nourishing. Serve alongside some new potatoes to make it a filling meal.
On a cold winter's night there's nothing like a comforting bowl of soup. Our Hearty Chicken Soup is full of veg and contains lentils that will keep you fuller for longer.
Sometimes we all need a bit of what we fancy and our Mushroom Burgers mean burgers aren't off the menu. Pile them high with salad or serve them with steamed veg.
For something a little bit different, try our Caraway Pork Chops that are surprisingly low in calories. They're deliciously succulent and are perfect served with broccoli or other winter greens.
Finally, pudding doesn't have to be off limits. Our Affogato is a heady hit of coffee and vanilla ice cream that is relatively low in calories. Or try our Super food Crumble for a pudding that is packed full of blueberries and rhubarb for added goodness!
