Made from soya beans, tofu is an important protein source for vegetarians and used in oriental and Chinese recipes. Tofu is sold as blocks packed in water. Silken tofu is softer with a creamy texture and ideal for dips, spread, sauces and sweet dishes.
How to cook
Although bland in flavour, tofu absorbs other flavours well and is delicious marinated. Slice or cube and add it to stir fries and salad recipes, deep fry or sauté.
