In recent times, Britain has seen resurgence in the demand of traditional British foods and artisanal production. Thanks to conservers of our British culinary heritage, like Ian Heircock, Master Pie Maker at Walkers Bakery, we can still enjoy British traditional foods in the way our ancestors would have wanted.
Ian Heircock specialises in creating pork pies and recently won the supreme champion title at the British Pie Awards for the second year in a row.
Walkers Bakery is famous for its delicious, crisp pork pies and producers Britain's favourite, Melton Mowbray pork pie. Walkers Bakery roots began in the heart of Melton Mowbray in 1824, and was granted a Protected Georgraphic Indicator (PGI) in 2009 meaning that it is truly local to Melton Mowbray and carries the heritage and history of Melton Mowbray pie making.
Ian's expertise comes from 30 years of making consistently delicious, high-quality pies. "You can never have an off day." Ian says, "I want every Walkers Bakery pie that comes out of the oven to be the best we've ever created."
In 2010 Melton Mowbray pies won 24 awards at the British Pie awards, including a Best in Class for the Pork Pie category.
A variety of Walkers Bakery pork pies are available at Tesco nationally, including a range of Melton Mowbray pork pies, Mini Melton's, Crispy Bake Pork Pies and a delicious selection of pies for Tesco delis.
