Cook the eggs for 7-8 minutes in a saucepan of boiling water. Drain and run under cold water for 1 minute. Crack and discard the tops.
Place in egg cups and sit on serving plates. Serve the poppy strips in a lattice pattern next to the the egg. Serve immediately.
If serving vulnerable groups, elderly people, toddlers, pregnant women and people who are unwell, cook eggs until the whites and yolks are solid.
