I love making these apple tarts to give to people.
Place apple and sugar in a pan. Add 50 ml water. Cover and simmer slowly till the apple is tender. Leave to cool.
Roll out pastry and line 4X 10cm tartlett tins. Spoon the apple pie filling into the pastry cases. Cut left over pastry into strips and decorate the top of the tarts. Sprinkle with flaked almond.
Bake the tarts in a hot oven Gas6/ 200C for 20-25 minutes.
Other fruit like apricot or pear can also be used.
