Preheat your oven to 200C so that it‘s ready when you need it.
Peel the apples, remove the hard core and chop into bitesize chunks.
Tip the apples into a medium saucepan with 4tbsp slightly sugared water and simmer for about 3 minutes until the apple is soft. Remove from the heat and tip the apples into a baking/crumble dish. Put 5tbsp of the caramel onto apple evenly spread.
Put the flour, oats and soft butter into a mixing bowl and rub the butter into the dry ingredients.
Add 1tbsp of the caramel to the oaty- flour mixture and combine together.
If you‘re using walnuts sprinkle these onto the crumble now.
Tip the crumble on top of the apples. Place into the hot oven and bake for 15mins
You could try this with fruit like pears as well.
