These delicious smoked salmon canapés will look beautiful as part of a festive party spread. Created by chef and food writer Ravinder Bhogal, they're flavoured with pickled ginger, coriander and zesty lime and are ideal for Christmas parties.

  1. Make the dressing by shaking together all the ingredients in a jar.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the chopped smoked salmon, shallot, chilli, radishes, avocado and the chopped coriander. Add the dressing and mix well. Serve on canapé spoons, garnished with pickled ginger and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

Cook's Tip: All the goodness in ginger lies just under the skin. Rather than peeling with a knife or peeler, simply scrape with the edge of a teaspoon and the thin peel will come away.

  • 200g (7oz) smoked salmon, chopped
  • 1/2 shallot, very finely chopped
  • 1/2 red chilli, seeded and finely chopped
  • 50g (2oz) radishes, halved and finely sliced
  • 1 avocado, peeled, stoned and finely chopped
  • small bunch coriander, roughly chopped
  • pickled ginger, to garnish
  • toasted sesame seeds, to garnish
  • For the dressing

  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1-2 tbsp light soy sauce, to taste
  • 1 1/2 limes, zested and juiced
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2-1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp soft brown sugar, to taste
