Place oil in pan and heat up.
Mix all dry ingredients into a bowl.
Add the egg and the beer to the dry ingredients and whisk well. Leave to one side. The earlier its made the better the batter.
Dip the cod fillet into flour just to coat it.
Dip cod fillet into the batter and gently put into the preheated oil flicking away from you.
serve with chips and peas.
