Preheat grill to its highest setting for 10 minutes and then place the pancetta or bacon on a grill pan and grill it a few inches from the heat for 10 minutes. To make the salad, mix the broad beans, red onion and chives in a bowl.
Drizzle over the olive oil and lemon juice and then add the salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss together with the pancetta and then transfer to a serving plate.
