The hotter the better for me, but this recipe can easily be adapted to your taste.

Fry the onion (add garlic if you like). Add the beef, chopped chilli (with seeds if you like it hot).

When the beef is just cooked, add the chopped pepper and cook until the beef is brown.

Add the mild chilli powder, salt, pepper and cayenne. Add the chopped tomatoes and tomato puree. Drain and wash the kidney beans before adding them. Cook for at least 30 minutes, or leave to simmer for longer for a stronger taste.

Serve with rice, fresh chopped tomatoes and a few tortilla chips.

Check spice and add more if you like it hot!
