Citrus and dried fruit salad recipe

Prepare the fruit. Zest one of the oranges and reserve the zest.

Cut one end off the oranges so that they sit flat. Run a knife down the orange removing the pith and skin, as close to the flesh as possible.

Slice into rounds and place in a bowl along with any juice.

Repeat with the grapefruit and add to the bowl.

Sprinkle over the sugar and set aside.

Place the prunes and raisins in a bowl with the orange juice and leave to plump up for 10 minutes.

To serve, simply drain the prunes and raisins and add to the citrus fruit. Serve in bowls topped with flaked almonds.
