Melt the butter in a saucepan, then add the sugar and syrup and stir until bubbling. Remove from the heat and stir in the oats and dried cherries.
Transfer into a baking tin and cook in a preheated oven at 170°C until golden brown.
Once cooked leave to cool before removing from the tin and cut into squares.
Tip: swap the cherries for raisins, strawberries or other dried fruits. Cut the flapjacks into bite-sized pieces for toddlers.
