Turn the oven on to 200c.
Add the pork loin steaks to a deep oven dish, along with one cut up and peeled apple/pear and pour half the pear cider in, so the steaks are covered. Sprinkle 25g of brown sugar on top. Cook for 30m
In the mean time, chop the onion and one apple/pear (skin off) and add to a warm frying pan containing the oil.
Once the onion has started to sizzle, add 75g brown sugar and the water. Turn the heat down and allow to cook for 10-15m.
After 30m in the oven, take the pork out and turn over. Add the caramalised onion & apple/pear and put back in the oven for 15m.
Sit back and relax for 15m with the rest of the pear cider!
Check pork is thoroughly cooked before serving with thick cut chips or whatever takes your fancy.
Don't use too much cider or you'll have to tip some out before adding the caramalised onions to stop it going mushey and watery.
You can also use apple cider, but this makes it a bit sweeter.
If like my other half you prefer the pork fat to be crispy, before adding to the pan, brown the fat in a hot frying pan for a few minutes.
