i am a childminder and we use this shortbread recipe for every holiday and celebration, we make easter, haloween, christmas, birthday, chineese new year nd even diwalli shortbread !!
mix sugar into flour
cut the butter into cubes and rub into sived flour
add milk a tablespoon at a time and mix untill a dough is formed
if a litle sticky add more flour
roll dough onto a floued surface and cut into shapes using biscuit cutters, dough can be regathered and re rolled many times (if sticky add flour)
place on lined baking tray and cook in the oven for aprox 15 mins (180, gas mark 4), before they go brown to keep a soft butter shortbread texture.
decorate with icing add sprinkles or eat plain
