Egg-free dried cherry and sunflower tea bread recipe

HE CHERRYSUNFLOWERCAKE

Line and grease a 1kg loaf tin with baking parchment paper. Place the milk, syrup and margarine into the food processor. Add the blended milk mixture to the flour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, sugar and salt in a big bowl.  

Stir in the dried cherries and sunflower seeds. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf tin. Bake for about an hour or until a skewer is inserted and comes out clean.

  • 250ml (8fl oz) milk
  • 100g (31/2oz) golden syrup
  • 85g (3oz) margarine
  • 50g (2oz) dried cherries
  • 120g (4oz) sunflower seeds
  • 280g (9oz) self raising flour
  • 1/2tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 110g (31/2oz) sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
