Rub some margarine over two baking sheets to grease them. Then, turn your oven on to 180degreescalcius
Sift the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda into a mixing bowl. Cut the butter into chunks and add it to the bowl.
Rub the butter into the flour mixture with your fingertips until it looks like fine breadcrumbs.
Then, stir in the sugar
Break the egg into a small bowl. Add the syrup to the egg, then use a fork to beat them together.
Stir the eggy mixture into the flour. Mix everything together until it forms a soft dough.
Sprinkle a clean surface with flour and put the dough onto it. Knead it until its smooth.
Roll the dough out until it is about 5mm thick.
Use farmyard animal shape cookie cutters to cut out roughly 12-18 cookies from it.
Bake the cookies in your oven for about 12-15 minutes. They will turn golden brown.
Leave the cookies on a wire rack until cool to touch .Enjoy!
