me and my gran used to make this everytime i visited - i was always allowed to lick the bowl- the best bit

sieve flour and spices together

in a seperate large bowl beat sugar and liquid stork together then add syrup and mix

beat egg and milk together

in the large bowl of sugar/stork/syrup gradually mix in alternatively the flour and egg mix until all smooth

pour into small heavy bottomed roasting tin that has been greased and lined with parchment paper

bake gas 4-5 for approx 1 hr

my tip is to alternatively pour mix over sliced apples and pears, then bake and serve hot with ice cream as a lovely dessert

  • 4oz liquid stork or flora
  • 6oz soft brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2tbsp Golden syrup
