I really love french toast or I sometimes I call it eggy bread. It is a really high energy snack and perfect if you need some protein but don't like the taste or texture of eggs!

Heat the butter in a frying pan on a high to medium heat.

Using a shallow bowl, add the egg and beat. Add the milk, cinnamon and mix well.

Get one slice of bread and put into the egg mixture, letting it soak up the liquid. Once the first side is soaked, flip it over and do the same on the second side.

Repeat this for the second slice of bread.

The butter should be melted by now, put both slices in side by side. Once browned nicely on one side, turn them over and cook on the other side.

Take them out and pour on the maple syrup. Enjoy!

Can also be enjoyed with a sprinkle of powdered (icing) sugar or brown sugar. You can also have with melted butter on top. Or for a healthier option how about some yogurt and fresh berries. Or how about a savoury option. Leave out the cinnamon and when cooked enjoy with a savoury topping such as cheese. Or the way I like mine a little salt and plenty of ketchup!
