Make up the jelly according to the packet instructions and allow to cool.
Put jelly in the fridge to set. This will take several hours and is best done overnight
Make the custard according to the instructions and set aside to cool.
To assemble trifle: Line a big round glass dish with thinly sliced Swiss roll.
Pour orange juice on the Swiss roll and leave it to soak in.
When the jelly is properly set, chop it up in its bowl and then spoon over the Swiss roll.
Stir the set custard briskly and then spoon out over the jelly.
Top with whipped cream and hundreds and thousands or perhaps strawberries or other soft fruit! Eat!
If you're having adult guests over, mix the orange juice with a few tablespoons of sherry before soaking the Swiss roll.
