Mix balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, dried herbs and olive oil in a small bowl.
Place the salmon in a ceramic, glass or plastic container, pour the marinade over, and turn to coat.
Cover and marinate for a couple of hours.
Heat grill to high.
Remove the fish from the marinade and season with salt and pepper.
Grill the salmon, skin side down for about 5 to 7 minutes.
Drizzle with the original marinade for the glazing effect if desired and continue cooking for another minute before serving.
Serve with any Italian style risotto and garnish with black or purple olives.
