Pre-heat the oven to Gas 5, 190°C, fan 170°C.
Dice the beef and toss in seasoned flour. Place in a casserole dish.
Pour over the Guinness.
Chop the onions and add them to the casserole dish.
Cover casserole dish and carefully place in the oven. Cook for 60 minutes.
In a separate pan, cook the diced turnip, sliced peppers and butter beans in 5 tbsp water. When heated through, add them to the casserole pot along with their cooking liquid.
Turn the oven down to Gas 3, 170°C, fan 130°C and allow the casserole to cook for a further 3 hours.
Serve over slices of thick granary bread.
