I like making savoury flan for parties. I can make a few of them at a time. They are quite easy to make.
Roll Pastry to ½ cm thickeness. Line the pastry on a 23cm flan dish or ring.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil. Fry the vegetables lightly and then add the diced ham. Stir for 1 minute. Leave to cool.
Beat the eggs together with the milk. Season with a little salt and pepper. Add in chopped mixed herbs.
When the ham and vegetable filling is cool, place in the lined pastry flan dish.Pour in the egg and milk mixture. Sprinkle with grated cheese on top.
Bake in the centre of the oven Gas mark 4 (180C/350F) for 40 minutes until the filling is set and the cheese all melted. Serve warn or cold for a street party.
Other filling like fried bacon or fish can also be uesed.
