Preheat Oven to 200 degrees / Gas Mark 6. Finely chop the onions and carrots. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a high heat. Add the onion and carrot and cook for about 5 minutes until they soften and start to brown.
Add the mince and break any lumps up with a wooden spoon and cook until the mince is brown all over.
Once the meat is browned, reduce to a medium heat and add the flour, mix well. Add the Tomato Ketchup, sprinkle over the stock cubes and then add the water and stir up the mixture.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes then add the mixed herbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
While you cook the meat peel and chop the potatoes and then boil them for about 15 minutes or until they are tender. drain and mash them with the milk and butter. Then top the pie with grated cheese.
Cook for 20 minutes in the oven and if the top isn't crispy pop it under the grill for a few minutes.
Delicious served with green vege!
I like to add garlic to the mash too!
