Heat the butter in a large frying pan, add the apple slices, and cook gently for a few minutes.
Sprinke on the sugar, stir to combine and cook for three more minutes until the sugar melts, caramelizes and turns brown.
Stir in the brandy and warm through.
If you are brave, carefully light with taper to flambe!
Serve warm with a dollop of creme fraiche.
Tip; rum or whisky work just as well as the brandy!
This is total indulgence for when there is no chocolate and all you have is 'good for you' fruit in the fruit bowl. It works with pears too!
You can 'posh it up' for a dinner party by adding chopped flaked almonds at the end!
