My mum like to make this recipe. Now I make these cakes to give to people as gifts

Line and grease 2 loaf tin. Put flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Add in the butter. Use and electric beater nd mix in the butter.

Add in sugar and lemon rind. Mix in the eggs and milk to form a soft batter. Divide the cake mixture ibetween the 2 loaf tins.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour till a wooden stick insert into the centre and come out clean. Leave to cool.

Heat the sugar with the lemon juice in a pantill all the sugar is dissolved. Add in lemon zest. Leave to cool slightly pour over the cakes.

Always make 2 or 3 times the quantity so that you can keep one and give the others away.
