My flatmates and I like COMPLETELY different desserts. I love to bake... but we never agree.... except when it comes to this loaf! Everyone loves it - and it is super easy!

Beat the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy. Then beat in eggs 1 at a time

In a serperate bowl mix: Flour, poppy seets, Lemon Ring, Baking Powder, Salt

Stir together mixtures with milk

Spread into greased loaf pan

Bake at 325F for one hour. In the meantime make the sauce:. Warm, sugar, lemon rind and juice until sugar disolves.

When the loaf is done, piece in 12 places from top to bottom. Pour the syrup over the holes and the top so it really gets in.

  • 1tsp Salt
  • .5 cup mile
  • 1.3 cup Sugar for sauce
  • 1 tsp lemon rind for sauce
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice for sauce
  • 1tbsp baking powder
