I love to make these as gifts and then place them in nice boxes which you can even wrap with wrapping paper and add bows to.
Melt the lard slowly in a bowl, in either a water bath or the microwave.
In another bowl mix the flour with the salt and then add the white wine and the lard slowly mixing the ingredients.
The mixture is easy to work with and not sticky. Spread it on a silpat and make it about 1cm thick then cut with pastry cutters, can be any shape, if cookie cutters are not available you can use a cup.
On parchment baking paper place the pastries and insert on a preheated oven to 180º.
Remove them as soon as they are slightly golden.
Start checking at 10minutes depending on your oven this might take another 10minutes.
Leave to cool and when cold sprinkle generously with icing sugar.
This is a great edible gift! And children can help too cutting out the shapes.
