Place the slices of beef in an ovenproof dish.
FHeat the oil and fry off the onions and mushrooms.
Once they start to brown, add the sugar, port, worcestershire sauce, chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, gravy granules and boiling water. (The consistency should not be too thick, as the water will evaporate.)
Pour the sauce over the sliced beef and cover the dish with foil.
Place in a pre-heated oven 170C/335F, and slow cook for at least 2 hours.
Serve with yorkshires & vegetables.
