This is my mum‘s favourite apple pie recipe
Peel, core and slice apples. Place apple in a pan with 1 tablespoon water and sugar. Cover and stew for 20 minutes. Leave to cool.
Roll out the pastry to line a 20 cm. pie plate. Trim off excess pastry. Spread the stew apple on the pastry.
Roll out the pastry trimming and cut into strips. Arrange the pastry strips on top of the pie. Bake in the centre of the oven Gas 7/ 220C/ 425F for 25 minutes. cool on a wire rack.
