Orzo and bacon Italian recipe

Fill a pan with water and put on the hob to boil, in the meantime finely chop onions and garlic and cut bacon into thin strips (I use kitchen scissors)

Heat oil in a non stick pan and add onions, cook until slightly softened then add bacon and garlic, cook for a further 1-2 minutes

At this point add pasta to boiling water

Add sherry, oregano, basil and chopped tomatoes to bacon and onion and gently simmer whilst the pasta is cooking (aprox 8 mins)

Test pasta and drain when it is cooked to your taste

Combine pasta and sauce, serve topped with black pepper and grated Parmesan.

Serve with freshly cut white bread and butter and a side salad drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
