Peel and chop potatoes into 2inch chunks
Then run under cold water for 5mins to remove starch and place into a saucepan,fill with cold water and a teaspoon of salt,bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes until soft
Drain well and put back in pan of the heat for 5minutes to dry out meanwhile heat the butter and milk in the microwave until butter has melted
Mash the potatoes well then slowly beat in the butter and milk until nice and creamy add salt and pepper to taste
To achieve the perfect mash use a pot ricer
