I make the dough in my breadmaker and set the timer for when I get home from work, so that I can just make the balls, add the topping and put them in the oven. That way I can have them ready in 20 minutes!

Mix flour, oil, sugar, yeast and salt together in a large mixing bowl then add warm water. Mix well until it forms a dough. Knead well until dough is soft and smooth. Leave to rise, in warm place, for 30 minutes.

Heat oven to Gas 4, 180°C, fan 160°C.

Divide dough into 16, roll the pieces into evenly-sized balls then put on a non-stick baking tray. Top each ball with 1tsp of pasta sauce and 1tbsp of grated cheese.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, until golden brown, and serve.

Tip

If I have extra, I freeze bolognese sauce, when I make it, and use this as the sauce topping. Otherwise I choose the kids’ favourite pasta sauce from the store cupboard.

I usually serve with a nice fresh salad and some home-made potato wedges. Microwave a baking potato until just soft, cut it into wedges and drizzle the pieces with olive oil. Put the wedges on another non-stick baking tray and place in the oven at the same time as the pizza puffs, to crisp up.
