I love pastry but dislike everything about sausages! This recipe gives a fantastic contrast between sweet and spicy. I'm slowly coming round to the idea that apple and pork sausages aren't too bad...!
Prepare puff pastry and roll out thinly.
Remove sausages from skins, and mixed together with chopped Chorizo.
Wrap in pastry, cut to size, seal and score.
Place on a baking tray, sprinkle with poppy seeds and bake for 25-30minutes.
I had never made sausage rolls before, and was limited on time. Because I can eat some amount of wheat/gluten, I cheated and bought ready made puff pastry. I also bought sliced Chorizo as I knew I wouldn't use the rest up if I have bought a larger amout. I wrapped the sausage meat in the Chorizo which held it together well.
I sprinkled crushed black pepper and salt onto my rolls to give them a varied taste.
I didn't roll my pastry out enough (see picture), but for a first attempt I don't think I did too badly.
I will try again with a wheat/gluten free pastry as some point.
You can alter the recipe depending on how many rolls you want, and what size they should be. I rolled out a standard block of pastry, and used approx 4 sausages.
