Invented to be cheap and easy. Tastes great - classic mix of ingredients - best eaten with jacket spuds.
Peel and quarter the bramley apples. Boil in a little water until they are almost liquified, but retain a little texture.
Whilst the apples are cooking, pack the sausage meat in the bottom of an oven proof dish.
Mix the stuffing as per the instructions and lay over the sausage meat in the dish.
Add the apples laying them above the stuffing mixture and sausage meat.
Complete the pie by laying the pastry on top of the other ingredients. Use a fork to seal the pastry to the side of the dish and then make a small number of fork holes in the surface.
It's no problem if the apples turn completely into a sauce; whatever suits your taste. If you want a golden finish then beat an egg and brush onto the pastry surface.
