These stovies were my mother's recipe and she always used the best quality potaoes and mince and sausages, which allowed the true taste of brtish meat to get out.We were a family of 8 children and a granny and this was a family favourite.. This is a perfe
peel and quarter potatoes place in 4 piles
chop onions finely and place in 4 piles
cut sausages into bite size pieces place in four piles
brown the mince and onions and sausages together for five minutes - you may have to do this 4 times depnding on your pan size
fill your pans 2 thirds full with cold water and add all the ingredients together to the pans.
stir the pans whilst waiting for the stovies to boil - once boiling turn down to simmer level and leave to cook - go back periodically to stir and check and add some more water if needed
add salt and pepper to taste and take off the heat when the potaoes boil down and the mixture thickens
serve immediately in bowls and provide brown and tomato sauce to go with the stovies
have 4 large pans ready for boiling
