Put the meat, onion and pearl barley in the slow cooker and cover with water.

Peel and chop the vegetables to dice of a similar size. Add the vegetables to the slow cooker and top up with stock to cover the vegetables. Cook for approximately 10 hours or until everything is softly cooked and the meat is tender.

Serve with crusty bread.

  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 clovves crushed garlic
  • 1 green chilli finely chopped
  • 4 potatoes diced
  • 1 swede diced
  • 4 chopped celery sticks
  • 4 diced carrots
  • 500ml beef stock
