This is my grandmother‘s recipe. She made the most delicious gingerbread in the world.
Mix flour, ginger,spice and bicarbonate of soda together. Heat syrup, treacle, butter, and sugar in a pan. Stir till the sugar and butter are melted.
Pour the syrup mixture into the flour mixture and stir until it all mix together. Mix in the egg.
Transfer the mixture into a lined greased loaf tin. Bake in the centre of the oven 180C/350F/gas mark 4 for 1 hour. Turn out to cool on a wire rack.
