Begin by washing your hands, then put out a plastic mixing bowl and a chopping board.
Chop up the onion into chunky cubes before adding minced meat and egg into the bowl followed by the chopped onion. Wash your hands once more before begining to mix the ingredients together with your hands, when the mixture begin to take off from the bowl add salt, pepper and breadcrumbs.
Use your hand to mix up the meat and spices, take half a handful of minced meat and carefuly roll it between your hands. Repeat the process till you have created balls out of all the minced meat, size is based upon personal flavour but the traditional size is about the size of half a golf ball.
Add butter in a frying pan and put the meatballs in, fry till they are nicely brown on all sides. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy.
