Ask an adult to put the slices of wholemeal bread in the toaster. Or children may want to experiment with bagels, raisin bread or crumpets.

Once it’s toasted, wait for a few moments to allow the bread to cool slightly and ask an adult to remove it using tongs and place it on the chopping board.

Use a knife to spread the soft cheese onto the toast.

Children could try putting fruit or vegetables on top, like mashed banana with a pinch of cinnamon, sliced dried apricots, diced pineapple, chopped tomato or even mashed avocado with a sprinkle of sultanas.

Cut each slice into quarters and serve.
