Prepare the batter by sifting together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs, milk and oil and whisk well, starting slowly, until you have a smooth batter.
Heat a waffle iron until hot then pour the batter in, cooking in batches. Cook until golden brown all over. Remove and allow to cool on a wire rack for a minute before stacking on serving plates.
Dust with the icing sugar before serving.
