How to make houmous - video guide
Houmous is simple, delicious and really easy to make. It's a perfect party food, it's great as a side dish alongside a main meal.
Add chickpeas and ingredients in food processor
I'm using canned chickpeas which are reasonably priced and really convenient. I'm using 400g but if you want to make a little bit less houmous, just halve it and use one can, which is 200g. So you simple drain your can of chickpeas and empty it into your food processor; two to three tablespoons of fresh lemon, one clove of crushed garlic and a pinch of salt, 200ml of tahini, four tablespoons of olive oil, teaspoon of paprika, teaspoon of cumin, two tablespoons of water and now we're ready to blitz.
Store in refrigerator for three days
That looks perfect. And the good thing about this is it keeps in the fridge for up to three days in a sealed container.
Finishing touches and serving it up
Just to finish off the houmous, I'm going to drizzle on some olive oil and a little sprinkle of paprika. I'm going to serve mine with warm pitta bread and crudités.
